Happy Saturday to you too. Verizon told me they gave me $5 off so of course I called them up and reamed them. I don't trust anything anymore. If you are giving me something you gotta be up to something. It turns out they love me for something and they actually did give me 5 bucks. So that was fun on the phone. Poor people.

That's pretty much how my lifes been. I like the slower pace. Finland sounds like a wonderful place to live.

The thing is that garbage disposals are banned in basically all waste disposal areas. In the areas that they are not banned, a special permission is needed to install one. Apparently it is because the Finnish plumbing system and water treatment plants wouldn't be able to handle it.

Either way, bio-waste is here currently commonly burned for energy, composted or used for bio gas.

Treatment plants have no trouble handing wastes, none at all. Where their problems lie is in the WATER, not the waste!

It is an explanation given to the ban, I don't know what the real reason is. Really, I have close to no knowledge about plumbing so it could all be just a myth.

By the way, about the difference in plumbing septic systems are also rare here. Way more common in the areas of dispersed settlement (don't know if this is the right term). The Finnish law basically says that a septic tank is only suitable as a pre-treatment system before the actual wastewater treatment process. This is based on the "assumption" that the purification efficiency of septic tanks is not sufficient even for the treatment of grey water alone
