It been beautiful here again today too. Very cold and icy first thing this morning. I had to break the ice up on the bird water trays and my little pond but within the hour they were frozen over again.A sparkling winter's day on Two Tree Island:View attachment 385039View attachment 385040View attachment 385041View attachment 385042View attachment 385043View attachment 385044

Dear Lyn,Plenty of bird life there! Is Two Tree Island a nature or wetlands reserve?
We had a white Christmas and have had varying levels of snow ever since, but there hasn't been a point where the snow would have melted of completely. That is very normal for us. Currently we have about 19 cm of snow (7.5 inches).@The_Four_Toed_Edward what's the weather like where you are? What temperatures do you have at the moment?
That is cold!! It's very rare for us to reach as low as -10 C. Thank goodness. We had a white Christmas and have had varying levels of snow ever since, but there hasn't been a point where the snow would have melted of completely. That is very normal for us. Currently we have about 19 cm of snow (7.5 inches).
We have a saying here: "Finland is a long country". Some places in the south have currently just 2 cm (0,8 inches) of snow, meanwhile up in the north some places have 58 cm (about 23 inches) of snow.
Today we are expecting a high of -11 C (12 F) and a low of -16 (3 F).
A week ago the national month forecast for January was promising unusually cold temperatures for January with lows down to -35 C (-31 F) to -45 C (-49 F). The tabloids took most out of it, until today when a new month forecast was given promising
an unusually warm month.
For us it is mild for January. But very normal for November. That is cold!! It's very rare for us to reach as low as -10 C. Thank goodness.![]()

Freezing rain is dangerous to drive on. You all be careful.Dear Lyn,
Any snow? Just freezing rain!

Freezing rain is dangerous to drive on. You all be careful.

Yes it snowed for a few hours - enough for a couple of cms, but has turned to freezing rain now. Looking at the forecast it will be much warmer tomorrow with just plain old rain all day. The buses and our local taxi firm, all stopped running about 7 pm but all the main roads have been gritted. I've known much worse weather.Dear Lyn,
Any snow? Just freezing rain!

This is going to be a great youtube channel. I subscribed, so I will get notifications when you post a new video. I get the notification on my phone. Then I will turn my tv on. When the video is playing on my phone. I click on a tv iconI remember back in the 80's we had a severe ice storm. My wife and I had been married a year and like most young folks back then, we did what was necessary to get to work. We set off on the Balt-Wash Parkway from Laurel. There was a solid inch of ice on the road. We drove a '75 Bonneville, last of the Big Boat cars! We were ok on the straights where you could drive 15mph but on each bend in the road, on the outside median the cars were stacked up. If you drove 30mph, you went into a ditch if you drove 15 you didn't. We made it into DC and I dropped her off on K Street then went to my jobsite What a ride!
Kerry left at 9am to go to NY to get Dad and bring him back for a couple of weeks. I get to play! Does this look like "play"? We had a Filing problem. We each had a ton of stuff to keep but our black "stick-out-from-the-wall" type were too big. I also learned new filing cabinets are EXPENSIVE for a decent one. Enter The Restore in Easton Md. and for only 25 bucks for the almond cabinet(we painted it white and it had all of the file hanging bars and they are heavy duty) and 12 bucks worth of 220 hanging files for her stuff. $39.22! I've got so much stuff, 9 of the cardboard boxes full! The Bankers box on the bed is for shredding. On the opposite side we make a hash mark when we empty it into a large trash bin. We have 4 marks on it now! Yup, good times!

On a up note, I put together a you tube channel and posted some of our nightlife here. The fox is apparently denning on the hill. His appearance every couple of minutes would seem to indicate it.
It's 25F and falling here along with being windy. Rough night tonight for them. I didn't see any deer here at all but they were here last night at 3am. LOL

I'm just wondering how Vlad is doing or have they kept you up to date? Out of curiosity, was he stinky and infested when you tried to help him? I once tried to help one and he was. I'm interested in knowing what hurts them so bad that they need rescued. After all they eat some ungodly things. And “Vlad” the Black Vulture has been rescued and on its way to a Bird of Prey Sanctuary.![]()
We are supposed to have a big snow today. I'm not going to complain the water is badly needed and so is the freeze. Ohio used to have really hard winters but not anymore. Sapphire is awake and eating and the others are fine and warm. It's snowing now but I'm in a cozy home for now. Hopefully we won't have a power outage.Good evening everyone!
I hope our friends in the US are okay. I've just heard on the news that most of you are getting a snow bomb! Please make sure you're all well stocked up and keep warm. Cathie I hope Mr Fre, Dilly and Razberri are okay. I have had rain all day and tomorrow could be better. Tuesday sounds okay but I have a dental checkup and possible filling at 9.00 am on Tuesday.
