Whenever I've thought about LASIK, the being awake during was always something a con. it's like the uncomfortable closeness of an eye exam turn up to 11.
Grammar schools are few and far between now, but they are secondary schools for 11 - 18 year olds who pass an exam called the 11+ at the end of primary school. I think they are considered to be more academic than the old secondary modern schools and we were always told we were the top 10% but I don't know if that was strictly true. They started to be phased out in the 70s for what was considered a fairer and more inclusive comprehensive school system.

The Queen Mary 2 let's you take dogs so Mr Fre would be ok in their kennels. Don't know about rabbits and torts though.,I would get told off and sent packin though because. I would have to bring Mr Fre, Razberri, and Sapphire along. Mr Fre is a yapper. Razberri would chew a hole in the boat. I'm pretty sure Sapphire would find some kinda way to be a Russian. I would absolutely love to visit Alaska but it's just not feasible for me.

Good morning/afternoon all. Lovely spring weekend here, but temps are supposed to fall again during next week.
I had.a lovely day with my sister and her family yesterday. We were looking after a 6 month old granddaughter for a couple of hours. Little Nia, was fine while her push chair was moving and enjoyed a lovely nap but as soon as we stopped, she yelled! She is a very clingy baby and when she realizes that whoever has her isn't her mum she really has tantrums. We had a quiet walk to an IKEA store but couldn't stay long as she woke up, so after all attempts to pacify her we gave up and set off home. As soon as we did that she fell asleep again. I must remember earplugs next time!!!
Rest of the day was lovely though, with plenty of other people to pass the baby on to

Yes I'm really excited to get it done. I can't wait to see that good again. My eye doctor said my sight should be so good I'll only need over the counter reading glasses.

We had something happen around our city unlike anything I've ever seen in my life. We had a phenomenon called dirty rain last week. When we had had the rains some freezing and snow storms etc. I didn't venture out so I didn't know about it until this morning. I just got a dusting but some people had mud. My sister in law and I go grocery shopping every Sunday. Neither one of us had read the book. So ooo She and I did finally figure out how to use the windshield washer fluid. I'm praying for a spring shower so I don't have to go to a car wash

My 90 year old neighbour had her cataracts done last year and she doesn't need glasses at all now so her op was really successful but I'm not sure if that was done by laser or not. Hope you get similar results Cathie.
Ya know...over time letting him hear you say that over and over and over and over again will have an effect.....
He will become further rebellious & combative.....it's a self-learned, self-destructive behavior for the parent too but they won't realize it until many years from now.

Yeah Fin, I'm not sure I'd want to sneak into that hellhole country. I remember doing the Summit between Reagan & Gorbachev in DC and hoping for real, for the first time since hiding under my desk in 1963 during drills in 1st grade. But those poor folks went from a broken system to another & folks are even worse with their present guy. We all hope for peace.
A lot of countries have very, very strict rules for visitors and if you "sneak in" you will FA&FO what a really crappy prison looks like, from the inside point of view. My personal rule for travel is to NEVER EVER break the law in another country....EVER!!! I researched Jamaica laws and found I would have been in a lot of trouble if I had taken my underwater metal detector on our last trip.
For you guys losing vision.....that's one of my biggest fears. I love to read and now that each day is a "Saturday", I get to read a lot more. I would hate to lose that so I really hope it works out well for you Ms Cathie. I tried to get my Grandfather to try weed for his Glaucoma to reduce the pressure on the optic nerve but I don't think it works for Cataracts....
Thanks. What I've read is that the actual simple surgery is the best. I've heard you could have lazor removal of the cataracts. That's what I thought it would be. The surgery replaces the lens of your eye instead of just cleaning up your old worn out one though. I have no clue which is better. My grandmother had lazor removal and she had 20/20 vision after. So I think both are a miracle of modern medicine. I can't hardly wait.

they can't hear you over their ear piercing yaps until they choke on it. How are you supposed to stop laughing when that happens?...
We have the 'Dog Father' over here who is a lovely bloke who's amazing at training dogs with all sorts of issues. If you can get a programme called Dogs Behaving Very Badly he'll probably be able to help with the yapping.That's just what the vet said because he's yappy. Mine was regular old surgery, no lasers. It literally took under ten minutes. The only thing that was even close to uncomfortable was they put a little roll of something absorbent and disposable between the eye and the lid to keep it stable and absorb any moisture/water/tears. It has to be dry to keep stuff sterile and let the cut place seal back up when they're done. They make the tiny cut, in my case they vacuumed the yucky lens out and put the new rolled up one in inside a tiny tube/straw (whereupon it flips itself open, they pull the tube out, and I could immediately see super-well - though I was loopy from all the meds).
It's so amazing what they can do now.

Jeff, before 2022 people used to get visas just to cross the border in order to get cheap gas. And the other way around people would cross the border here to get cheap groceries like cheese. It was a whole thing.
