Sorry I just saw the cancer diagnosis. Wow that's so sad. I'll be hoping and praying for him. Hopefully they caught it early enough to do something for him. If he had symptoms it would mean that it's really bad. It's good (I hope) that they caught it early enough to help.
Thank you Cathie

Its small enough that they are going to cut it out via keyhole surgery next month. It's not too invasive but not without it's risks either e.g collapsed lung etc. so we're all hoping that goes well.

It's hot hot hot here again. ,🥵

I did most of my chores this morning. That included a visit to the GP for a tetanus jab after I stood on a piece of wood with a nail in it yesterday. It wasn't very deep because it went through my shoe first, but it did bleed and was very tender this morning.
My last 10 year jab expired in May so I rang the docs for advice and they told me to go straight in - which was amazing in itself!

Made me wonder where that 10 years has gone. My last tetanus was because I was bitten by a pupil - I did wonder if I should have had a rabies jab too because he was like a wild animal the day he did that. 😏
Anyway I'll be ok for another 10 years now hopefully I won't treading on anymore nails though.
Hope your all having a good day and looking forward to the weekend.

Honestly I can understand the sentiment, But I look at it this way . . as far as the Covid vaccine, just because you got the vaccine, didn't mean you could not get COVID, But all the noteworthy Dr's in the field said by getting the vaccine it made the symptoms less severe, I can embrace that...
I had COVID before the vaccine came out but still got the vaccine. That's one I decided to get. And yes the symptoms were not good at all. It's interesting that I've not had it since although many people I know have. My doctor and I decided that the vaccine was my booster. I may still get the shingles vaccine but I'd really like to wait if possible. I've been reading.😊 My doctor's office said to wait at least 6 months. In the UK it's 1 year. I'm not an anti vaccine person. Certain ones are really important. Like the measles vaccine. Joe is a victim of my mother getting measles while pregnant. So we agree 👍 basically the same . Since I've had shingles maybe this should be considered my booster since I now have natural immunity also. All I really know is mine started inside my ear and I have some sort of hearing loss. We'll see if that clears up. If not I'll be seeing a specialist when they get the time 😉

Thanks Cathie.
To be honest he's a living medical encyclopaedia. He was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer 11 years ago, so that's always a worry, plus he has a list of other things and most recently the lung cancer which isn't secondary. In spite of it all he picks himself up and carried on. I think his positive attitude is what's keeping him going.
God bless him he'll be in my prayers forever 🙏. I know you're right about a positive attitude. Faith works 💪. He sounds like a lovely person to know.

My neighbor had shingles real bad on his back. Suffered for a few days years. Then the vaccine was developed and it cleared up.
Hope everything works out well for you.
Thank you. I just saw the years and that's something I've been reading about too. It's good to know the vaccine can clear up some of the long term issues. It gives me hope.

I got the Shingles Vaccine two days after my 50th birthday. I can remember being 12 years old and trying to help wash my mom's back when she had shingles. Nope no way, vaccination please

Good morning everyone!

I cared for dad with Alzheimer's and not long after putting him in the care home I went down with shingles. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy.

Ray I was wondering how the Gopher family are getting on? I'm just imagining your garden with a Gopher family plus Opo, Ms Sully, Franklin and Ozzy!

I will have to look on my calendar. I wrote it down when the eggs should hatch. I believe it is 100 days to hatch.

I am very curious to know why and how you got bitten by a pupil. Please do explain !
Angie
He was a very disturbed little boy in our special needs unit and was at risk of hurting others and himself, so I was part of a team that was trained to restrain those out of control which thankfully didn't happen too often. I still don't know how he did it but he managed to really bite into my arm, broke the skin and left teeth marks for weeks. When he was calm he was a lovely kid, but something or someone really upset him that day.

Thank you for explaining - I am impressed that you were given training on dealing with the children - I mostly taught in special needs schools, and I was never given training - but there were generally two assistants in the class with me,who were usually very sensible and kind (and bigger than me !) I never got bitten - just bruised a lot. But I loved the children - I am still in touch with some of the families after many years.
