Conflicting info help

Substrate I am using peat moss is that ok. I have 2 tortoises both about 5 to 6 months old.
Peat moss can cause the plastron to rot. I had never seen or heard of this until recently when a friend of mine showed me the damage to some of his young hold back leopard tortoises. Fine grade orchid bark is the best substrate. It can be found cheaply in bulk at local garden centers.

I agree with Reptilony that they should not be housed together. Pairs do not work. Groups of juveniles will usually be fine, but not pairs.

Most of what you read on the web or in books for sulcatas is wrong. They are not a desert species, and babies hatch durning the hot, wet, humid monsoon season. Here is the correct care info:
