Could it be shell rot?

Hi all we have had a Herman tortoise just over a year now and his shell looks brown around the edges could this be shell rot or could it jus be normal. Thanks

Looks to me like dirt or substrate staining. Not shell rot though.

U could use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently try to remove it. Doesnt have to be an old one.. i used to use my exes while she was at work lol

Thank you it was dirt it came straight of when I cleaned him with a toothbrush ?
