I have a 6-month old Hermann tortoise called tiddles named after the tortoise on Peppa pig. Has anybody else given their tortoise egg shell as a form of calcium. Tvm

Not my preference, but I can't say it would do harm as long as there isn't any egg left in the egg shell, and you keep the bacterial levels low.

I prefer to use a powdered calcium carbonate supplement.

Thanks for getting back to me I will give it a try. Do you feed anything else that is safe to enjoy that you don't find on the food list. ?
I do, but I have a Redfoot and they have a much broader diet than other torts.

Thanks Tom I have been using the calcium powder since we got the tortoise, but read today that somebody gives their tortoise crushed eggshells now and again. Just wanted to make sure that this was ok and that other people have done this to no ill effects. It is in no way going to replace the calcium powder.
