I noticed most of you give your torts uncut food iv been chopping my torts food up to little bites worried that the will choke if i dont when do i stop or am i just doing it for me can they do it on their own
I don't cut my tort's food. Think of the wild, they just eat it ! They are perfectly able to eat on their own.
Your first tort in the pic beak's is a little long. Do they have a cuttlebone? Eating on a flat stone can help that too.
They won't choke, they eat from whole leaves in the wild. It's true there are many leaves to choose from in the wild.
I cut food up into random sized pieces because I mix several types of greens together. Then when I add a few other things and tumble it they are hard pressed to pick and choose. In the chopping/cutting process many size pieces are created. I just hatched some pancake, have been raising neonate leopards and have adults pancake, and other much larger, they all get the same mix of greens, those little fresh hatched pancakes don't have any problem tackling pieces that are bigger than they are and may indeed outweight them. As a matter of fact those very small neonate pancakes are good to eat from a whole giant single mulberry tree leaf. They even give the petiole a shot, but just end up cheing it, not really getting a bite, maybe some juice?
How many thread have you read that begin with " HELP it will only eat one thing"? I don't have that problem.
My torts eat whatever i put on there plat lol they r feed on a terracotta plate no cuddle bone but i filed her beak a little after that pic just alittle more to go shes not bad when.i.file it she holds her head out and im gentle with her so i dont have to make sure its bite size and icut it about 4 times to make sure its tiny so alittle bigger is ok
