Hello again! As most of you know, I rescued Darwin from being thrown into a ditch about a month ago. He showed signs of pyramiding and I'm sure it's to soon for me to tell but I thought maybe some of the experts can take a look and see if maybe it's under control? I realize the difference would only be minute. The first pic was when I just got him. The others are from today. Thanks! :tort:

I'm no expert. But he is looking really nice. Keep up what your doing. The pyramiding that was there won't go away. But caring for him the right way hopefully will make it look less and less in time. He's looking good, so it might be working.

Pink carpet? lol I'm a man! Hahahaha! It's just a towel he was on. See it's ok for a guy to have pink towels but NOT pink carpet. LMBO!

OK is this what I should be looking for? As far as (new growth). You'll notice in pic 1 the growth lines were so close they were touching. In pic 2 the growth lines are smooth and wider. I know that the pyramiding can't be undone. I'm just hoping I'm doing everything right to prevent any more. I hope you can see the red arrows that point to what I'm talking about. Thanks!

There does appear to be a little new smooth growth. Good job.

Don't forget. No matter what we do right for them. They may still pyramid or continue to pyramid to a point. This is most likely do to the original poor, dry, care they got from hatching on, until the right conditions were met. The best you can do, will def help and should work for growing smoother. Yes, it does look like its working.

I really don't mind some (slight) pyramiding. I mean that's what attracted me to this breed of tortoise. (Small humps on the back) but for goodness sake, not to the extent of some of the photos I have seen as of late. I never even knew it could get so bad?

Looks like you are doing right by him, keep up the good work, this forum is a great resource! And definitely keep up the photo updates!

Also some of the extreme photos you probably have seen are from years of poor care. Your lil Darwin is lucky to have you pay attention to him early in his life, he will be alright. I was really nervous when I got mine but keep reading up here and you will be able to make good decisions for your tort!
