The indented scutes do appear on some tortoises which are growing rapidly. I would say it is normal and nothing to worry about. Please please Can somebody help me I have a dent in the back of my tortoise and I don’t know what as cause this please

In my experience, the indentations seem to go away when the tortoises reach full size.

I don't see any dent or anything out of the ordinary. Looks like a normal shell to me with normal growth. No he has a dent
Vets don't know anything about tortoise care. They will charge you a bunch of money and do unnecessary things that are possibly detrimental like "vitamin injections".I need for vets then thank u
Ok thank you so much I worry too much thank for tor responseVets don't know anything about tortoise care. They will charge you a bunch of money and do unnecessary things that are possibly detrimental like "vitamin injections".
So, bottom line, while YOU may see a "dent", if it is there, the folks here do NOT see it as a problem that needs to be addressed . . at this point in time.Ok thank you so much I worry too much thank for tor response
You have a fabulous looking tortoise. In my humble opinion.Ok thank you so much I worry too much thank for tor response
Yes it’s the same thanks so muchI'm not a professional, but in my opinion the dent in your tortoise is nothing to worry about at this time. Your tortoise is looking real good and you will be wasting your money at the Vet at this time. My Sulcata has a dent in his shell about the same place as your tortoise, as he has grown up the dent is slowly rising up. My tortoise weights 47 lbs. and he still has a little dent, does not affect him at all. My tortoise was seen by a Vet in October, Vet didn't thing it was a problem. Here's a picture of Sammy, you can still see his dent. It was deeper when he was smaller. I also asked this forum, I believe the response I got was to make sure that his basting light was not to close to his shell. You tortoise looks like it is well taking care of, Good Job!
