Went to the local nature center, and i watched one of the workers take a bucket to the back and I asked what was in it. She showed me this severly dehydrated male in the bucket. I asked her what they were going to do and they said just let it back into the wild. Well with winter coming along, and this guy in this bad of shape, I took it upon myself to take him in and rehabilitate him. He is already looking so much better. His eyes were completely sunken in when i got him, you can tell from the pics from an overview just how narrow his head is. I've got him gaining significant weight already. Fed him, hibiscus flowers, spring mix, dandelions, slugs, earthworms, and one pinky mouse dusted in d3 calcium. He is already showing vast improvements and loves that he has the 6x8 greenhouse all to himself. I gave him his first antiparisitc treatment and plan to keep repeating the process until i see him retain his weight longer. Possibility of overwintering in my care and an early release back into the wild this coming spring if all goes well.

Yeah he is doing better day by day, and is now taking food straight from my hand.

First, thanks you for being curious and helping this wonderful animal.
Second, what is wrong with people?

Do you know his exact point of origin? If not releasing him won't do him any good. They tend to try to return home. Try to find out where he was caught before you consider release.

I don't know his exact location, but there is a release sight i've been taking many of the years, and occasionally i see some that I let loose out there. I know it's bad, not their home and everything, but it's better than being cooped up for forever. What I will say is they are very common around my area, almost like red ears are to a lake lols. an Fbsmith, i have no clue, they said for nature to take it's coarse....i was like hell nooo, when you see something like that you don't just send it to it's death without at least trying to help.

Looks like this guy is near 100% already, no more sunken in eyes.
