I have a 5 year old, Russian Tortoise and i'm not sure i should turn his light off at night. My house is about 70 at night and 73 during the day i take him out side everyday (i live in Florida winter is not as cold as you think), im just worried that he gets to cold. Does anyone have any advice??

Russians need complete darkness at night, so yes the lights go off.

Use timers so they’re on for 12-14 hours. It makes life much easier for you.

Russian prefer it cooler at night. If it drops below 65F you will need a Ceramic Heat Emitter and thermostat to keep it warm.

Photos of your enclosure and lighting will help us to help you further.

I recommend you read the TFO care guides and compare them with your setup.

They're written by species experts working hard to correct the outdated information widely available on the internet and from pet stores and, sadly, from some breeders and vets too.

Yes you should turn the light off. All tortoises need it dark at night, and your species needs a drop in night temps.
