Does your tortoise fly?

I don't mean literally of course...

But when you have to carry your tortoise from A to B, do they stick their legs out like they were wings and pretend to glide like a bird?

Gemini has done this since the day we got him, but my friend Owen's tortoise sort of 'paddles' when he is carried (different species).

I'm curious if Gemini actually believes he can fly, and that's unique, or if many tortoises do this?

I find that other animals do that as well. I think they are "feeling" for a foothold.

My tort does it, and also my dog. But they only do it if their legs are unsupported. I hold my tort flat against my chest...with his body and legs against me, he is calm.
