When you find some that will live in your area, save a few pads to plant in pots...when spring comes, plant them outside and you'll be amazed at how fast they'll spread...FREE TORTOISE FOOD!

Agh! I actually found somewhere that will potentially get them in!

Hi guys!

Bow, if you want species that may have a chance in your area, then you may try Opuntia compressa/humifusa; some varieties are virtually spineless, but still full of glochids (bristles thinner than hair).
Larger pads, but very spiny- Opuntia phaeacantha. The others may not be suitable, being very, very spiny or not too hardy. You can try Mesa Garden, Intermountain Cactus or Plantasia Cactus Gardens as sources- all in the US.

Good luck!

Did anyone think to video record that? ;)

... Probably... It was pretty late at night though, not many witnesses

Walter really likes her spineless optunia fruit, she also ate all of her kale!

Great! That'll give her strength to rub her bill on the rocks and cuttlebone! View attachment 15791
