Sometimes my tort tries to eat peat moss which I used as substrate in baby pool I let him roam in... Can this harm him?

Mine eat that from time to time. Shouldn't be a problem as long as they have a good diet.

If it's long sting kind, it actually could possibly cause problems if it tangles ups, wraps around things inside it shouldn't. Either chop it up so it's not stringy, or buy the short fiber kind.

Chop it up into passable pieces until the tort no longer is thrilled with the newbie stuff....and offer good hydration and all should "come out" fine
