I let 8 month old koopa expore the apartment everyday. he seems to like it more than his enclosure. should i be doing this?

also His/her neck has been peeling since the day i got it(last saturday):tort:. I soak it everyday.

after reading and thinking i have decided to let Koopa roam around as free time. he seems to love it. He really just sits next to me and walk the length of my leg.

Most reptiles shed there skin, and as for the roaming its all on your thoughts.
just make sure there is no hazard for your tortoise, small things on the ground that can be eaten or even dirt and dust on the cold flooors!

I don't let mine run loose either. I want them in areas that are designed and maintained just for them. I have just seen too many tragic mishaps and accidents over the years. When I first started I did all sorts of things all willy nilly, and then felt pretty stupid when something bad happened. A big part of my daily career is helping to prevent animals from hurting themselves. The more you learn about all the things that can go wrong, the more you learn to be cautious. The floor is a dangerous place for a little tortoise...
