falling off counter!

I feel so horrible! i was weighing Atu, and had him balanced on an upside down cup so he couldn't get off the scale, and he managed to knock himself off the cup and onto the floor, which is more than 3 feet down and hard wood! i immediately got a soak ready for him and checked for any hairline cracks. he was pretty dazed, and had the wind knocked out of him pretty good. that's the last time i do anything that close to the edge of the counter again. Do you think i should schedule an x-ray appt to check for internal damage???

He's currently soaking in warm water, and is looking around, not moving too much as of yet. when i first picked him up his eyes were half-lidded and he looked a bit stoned.

Keep an eye on him. He is probably ok. No visible damage right?

none at all. no breaks in skin, no color changes, eyes are still bright. limbs move well. shell has no damage at all. neck and head are moving well.

I would,keep,a close eye on him. Any changes of normal behavior then make a vet visit.

will do thank you. he's back in his enclosure now, sunbathing. going to give him some romaine to make him feel better.

pushed him with a stick this morning since he was hiding in his tunnel. he reacted and even tucked his head in to hiss. usually he's up by now to bask in his light, but still giving him some time since he ate food last night instead of this morning. will see how he's doing when I get home from work to determine his condition.

Update: He's eating well, poops look good, and his activity levels are back to normal. That was an awful experience that I hope to never repeat! Gotta watch these dudes like a hawk!

You poor thing. Don't beat yourself up too much. I cannot even imagine how freaked out you got! I would too!! Glad to hear he is feeling better. *whew!*

That almost happened to me, so now I use a small tub and just zero the scale after I put the tub on it, and then put the tort/turtles in it.

I always put the scale on the ground.
