I have just adopted a severally neglected Russian Tortoise who i named Harley Shellraiser Von Badass. he is having trouble with constipation and a recurring penis prolapse and dehydration. He came from horrendous conditions. he had not reptile light, no calcium, only ate spring mix, lived in an aquarium with no heat or humidity control and was never soaked. He has been seen and treated by a reptile specialist vet a I am following all of the vets directions about soaking and spraying food with water. I was wondering if there are any foods i could give him that are high in water content but not as unhealthy for him as fruit? I have been trying small amounts of peppers and cucumber but i saw conflicting info about cucumber.
1. What foods are the healthiestbut also high in water content?
2. is there any additional steps beyond what the vet said to get him hydrated?
3. what are your thoughts on cucumber?
any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a first time tortoise owner but when i saw how he was living i have to rescue him.
