We found it necessary to visit our local help and assistance shelter today. They were at closing and going to throw all perishables away. They offered us anything we could use. My husband came away with months worth of tortoise greens! 6 gallons of strawberries, Red lettuce, spinach, spring greens, salads, romaines- a lot of it. Can you all help me find a way to preserve it? Can it be frozen? Chopped and dried?

Well the strawberries are no good for a sulcata, but those can be frozen.

I know of know way to preserve the salad stuff. It turns to mush if you freeze it and it turns to dust if you dry it.

Best to just add in some grass or grass hay for fiber and feed out as much as you can.

Try blanching the greens before freezing.

And please let us know how the blanching works. I've never tried that.
