Hi there, jorn.

If you have a local SaveMart or Food4Less near you, they have a lovely supply of radicchio, collard greens, mustard greens, kale (small amounts, please), parsley, thyme, rosemary, and baby carrots (chop them up!). I've always mixed small amounts of everything into a "salad" and fed it to my two Russian tortoises. They dig in right away! Make sure to add calcium supplements to their dishes at least twice a week as well.

Belgium? That's very cool!

I would go easy on the carrots and rosemary; try to stick to the dark greenery. Thyme and lambs lettuce would be a healthy choice for your hermann, but try your best to change up the diet every now and then. Variety is the key. Here are some additional pictures of items that I feed my tortoises—you may recognize them from the grocery store.

I pulled out my handy-dandy tortoise diet chart and glanced at the items you mentioned. They look good to me! Take a look at this list if you would like to. It's in alphabetical order, so you should be able to find items easily. The viola was a bit harder to find, as it is listed under the Latin terms and the family of plant it belonged to.

That would be the best option! Fortunately, the greenery that tortoises eat can be purchased for a very small amount of money at the grocery stores. Just have fun and mix it up! I think I enjoy constructing the salads more than my tortoises enjoy eating them!

Your tortoise probably won't eat herbs like thyme, rosemary, mint and the like. They make great plants inside an enclosure because they won't be eaten. ;)

Thanks, so if I put mint and thyme on his plate with lambs lettuce he won't eat it? gr

My tortoises love their thyme. I give it to them in small amounts. I've never tried mint, but I've heard a few success stories. Every tortoise is different!

Btw, I've used the site you had given me, so for now I've written down 20 herbs and plants I know that can grow here, and are all eatable (leaf and flower), so I will start on ordering some seeds for next year:)
I've also found a dutch site wich sells reptile lambs and also some tortoise food, they sell a seedmix for tortoises, so I'm gonna give them a call this week see what their about. If they sound ligit and everything I will certainly leave a link here. They've got an on line shop gr
