We made huge strides in pond developing today. I'll show some pics, then ask my questions :)

First pic: The turtle yard will be from the small retaining wall in the foreground and wrap around the pond to about where the plank is.
Second pic: Better shot, the boys won't be trooping around though!
Third pic: View from top of waterfall.

Lay it on me, set up wise what do you think? We plan on some logs for pond access and basking. A burrow dug in on the dryer end, and edible plantings.

This is a koi pond, thought on keeping the two critters together? It's 17,000 gallons, so lots of space for everyone.

Where is the best place to get turtles from? Local ponds, mail order? Our only wish is that they are good outside year round. If we do mail order, when is the best time weather wise to put them out there?

One more! This show the depth better.

We have a lot of native turtles in our area. I certainly don't want to cause harm though. I'll put the word out when we're ready to see if anyone has a surplus. I feel better starting with native species. I'm going to look up that guy in Canada now.

Where are you located? That will make all the difference in what will be best to choose for your pond? Is there a spot for the turtles to nest outside of the pond? Even if you don't want them to breed, females will need to haul out and lay regardless.

This is an awesome pond and I am excited to see/hear more.
