What better way to begin the new year then by dorking out and looking at torts. Here are some of the oldies but goodies, new additions and some of the up and comers. As you can see I've got the rainbow of cherryheads, yellow to orange to red (missing a few colors for a pack of skittles). Enjoy, gotta love those torts!

Oldies:

Newest Additions. They do not quite get that they are supposed to stay still for the camera. The male is stunning and I cannot wait for him to start with the rest of the girls. I quarantine for anywhere from 6 months to a year when adding new torts to my original herd.

Amazing male.

The neck and head colors on those hold backs are incredible! It will be interesting to see them as adults.
Thanks for sharing!

That 'box turtle' thing is unbelievable! All of them are exceptional though. The next generation of these will contain hatchlings with solid red and orange color I think.

Thanks All for the compliments. I agree with Cdmay, the holdbacks should provide some exceptional genetics to my mix. Especially since they are totally unrelated to each other. I have some other holdbacks from 2010, 2011 and 2012 that are not as impressive, but at least I have a crop of torts to keep things interesting. The box turtle wannabe's mom is Lemonhead (dad was beatlejuice) and the racing striped one was one from Rambutan with one of my other many males. I really hope the box turtle wannabe turns out to be a male. Everyone is loving the new space, especially the newest additions. It is like they have not seen the sun in a while. JD, now I can't give away all my secrets!
