Hello, today i got my second tortoise and im scared if one tries to kill eachother. I dont know if tortoises really do that but im scared. The secomd is 2-3 years older (and bigger) than my first one.

What im concerned the most is whos gonna be the "boss" of the terrarium. For 1 month now my first tortoise knows every single inch and she sleeps mostly outside her shell. Indroducing a new "friend" might seem weird.

What should i do?

It won't be a fight to the death scenario.
But one will bully the other. Maybe subtly. Maybe more aggressively.
And one will grow and be healthy. One will fail to thrive and become ill.
More than two in a gigantic space or just one is the way to go.

Hello,
I've read many many threads on the forums about the dangers of housing tortoises in pairs, so I don't suggest you do it. Here are some of the threads.
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/bad-day-for-baby.114328/

Please read them, I don't want your tortoises to get injured from each other. I think you should separate the tortoises and put them in their own enclosures. Also I have read a thread somewhere on someone saying if you have 2 tortoises, it's better to get another one, basically 3+ in an enclosure, to reduce stress/bulling on one specific tortoise. Don't quote me on this, but I'm sure I read this somewhere. Maybe someone experienced will explain/elaborate on this, but I still think separate enclosures in the way to go.
Good luck!

The theory is that with more tortoises the bullying wont all go to one individual. But a larger space would still be the key. Four of my seven are living together. a male with four females, but there are five separate dens and a total of 192 square feet. It's a 16x12 space. Three of the dens are 6 square feet of added space because they are added to the outside of the pen and there are doors connecting them. Two of the dens are inside the enclosure.
My single pens are at least 10x10 feet.

Torts do not need company: they love being alone, and when company is imposed in them....bullying begins, whereas one tort could hurt another. I'd separate them. Good luck.:)

Please post pics of your torts and their enclosure.
And a very warm welcome to the forum!:tort:
