Hello,
"Regular grass" is not enough information. We need to know what types of grass you are talking about. The names should be on the bag somewhere. If you went to a restaurant and told the waiter "I'd like a regular sandwich" what do you think he would bring?
Thanks,
Jeff

If you mean the type from the hardware store, then no. They put all sorts of weird chemical coatings and stuff on that seed.

Go to any feed store, or go online to grow organic.com and get some "pasture mix". It is specifically made for grazing animals and its great for grass eating tortoises too. Probably cheaper than the coated hardware store stuff too.

I guess that was a dumb question, sorry. Yes I just bought a bag of grass seed from Ace hardware store and planted it in a kiddie pool for my tortoise. People talk about that they let their torts in the yard that just has everyday grass growing. What is the difference? Thanks

The difference would be the species of grass, and the chemicals that hardware store seeds typically have on or in them.

If you get regular seed (not enhanced in any way for speedy growth, low water growth) then you should be aok, bermuda grass is hardy and is good for them....

The coated seed is the popular thing now.....so you really need to be careful of what you are using..some are coated with water retaining chemicals also lined with fertilizers....which is great if you are only trying to achieve form and not function.....

Tom is absolutely correct in advising you to seek out organic, untreated seed....what type of seed did you get at Ace? There is a chance you got some regular ole stuff there....what is the name and type you planted?
