I'm not sure why I want them done.. I think because that it will be best for the dog later on down the road. I have had issues with doggy ears before, and they had to get cut later on, and it was a harder recovery because the dog was older. Eventually when I get everything set up, I might want another one(Female). I love them. They are such amazing dogs.

Whin likes her, but isn't sure what to make of her. He has always been an 'only' dog and now that there is a new puppy in the house.. He is.. well like any baby would be, jealous. I think once she gets older and itsn't always trying to catch his tail when it is swinging he will get better with her.

What is the Breeder? Do they have a website?

I can't see any advantages of having a dogs ears cropped... not all are going to have ear troubles and i noticed that Whin has his ears... because he is a dal and its not done with that breed... its purely cosmetic when done at a young age and extremely painful for the pup... and can have its complications... including a head shy dog.... its also best if you are going to get it done... to do so before 10 weeks...

I haven't enquired with the breeder so don't know if they have a website or not.... i have a SBT at the moment and another one lodging... so the inn is full at the moment...

I probably won't get her ears cropped, and the Vet probably wouldn't do it.

If you get a chance to meet the Breeder, will you ask about a website? I would love to look at it.

If I get another Dane.. It will be a few (lots of few) years.. I just want to look at the site.

I will let everyone know if I get her ears cropped or not. I am still going to ask the vet about it, just to see what they think. It probably won't get done though.

Of course you gotta love the name "great dane" why couldn't they be called " average dane" or " so-so dane"?

Awww what an adorable little pup :) Congratulations on your new baby!!
Both of your dogs are beautiful!
My first dog was a little wary when I got my second. He is scared of other dogs and the puppy would try and pounce on him/play with him constantly...he didn't know what to think! He would follow her around sniffing her all day though
It was funny though that he was scared of a 3-lb puppy!!

Kelly that's wonderful that ear cropping and tail docking are illegal in the UK! I wish the US would follow suit! Isn't declawing cats illegal too??

Is ear cropping and tail docking any different than when babies (boy) get circumcise?

Well, at least they anesthesize the animals. I'm thinking they don't numb the human babies.

i do believe declawing is illegal too...

I should have said tail docking is restricted... there are a few Working breeds that are "allowed" to be docked... but even then it has to be done by a registered vets....

Did you ever see the movie "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson. The mantle was my dog Jake. He retired to a cushy life with my parents and lived to almost 15 years old. We put him to sleep just before Christmas. We replaced him with two more and did the movie "Seven Pounds" with them. They are one of my favorite breeds, although not the best workers. Great pets, however.

Yes. That's what I do for a living. I wasn't the trainer on "The Patriot", another company borrowed Jakey boy for that movie, but I was one of the two trainers on "Seven Pounds". That was also me and my pit-bull in "No Country For Old Men". You've seen my animals lots of times, unless you don't watch TV or movies, ever. My tortoises were in "Daddy Day Care" with Eddie Murphy, several years ago.

Hey, we haven't heard from Italianlnm lately.

Are you there? Is everything going smoothly and are the tortoises being prepped to serve as baby totes? ;)

My hubby has put a deposit on a Harliquin pup for me for Christmas.. Which is why I was asking..

Wanted some input on them. I have Always wanted one, and he has got one for me.. This will be our first Christmas together so I was very happy with my present. We dated 5 years before getting married, and I always tried to get him to get me one.. And he always told me no way!

But what a nice surprise.
