Hello! We have a Greek tortoise who seems very stressed out. We have had him about 5 months and he seemed happy until the past few days. Nothing in his enclosure has changed, he has food, water, a two hides, and a UVA/UVB light. He paces back and forth and tries to climb the walls tipping himself over from time to time. I don't know what to do. Help! Do their needs change from time to time?

I don't know a lot about greeks, but does he have a "roomy" enclosure? If he does, maybe you could make his enclosure more interesting, which would be less likely to try climbing out. That's what I had to recently do. You can add plants- real or fake- or just some obstacles in the enclosure.

With the onset of summer temperatures has the peak temperature increased inside his enclosure?

Also, could he be reaching sexual maturity?

Or, if female could she be looking for a place to lay eggs?

Let's find out more about your tort and the enclosure, so we can help.

How long is your tort?
How big is the enclosure? ( A photo would be really helpful)
What type of UVB lighting do you have?
When did you last change the UVB bulb?
What are the four important temperatures? Warm side, cool side, directly under the basking spot lamp and overnight minimum.
What do you feed your tort?
Does he get outside?
Do you have any other torts?
