~ Groot came to us as a two year old rescue about three years ago. He lived in a glass fish tank here in SW Florida and was about three inches. His shell looked great, however we felt his size and overall growth was small. As we do with any rescue tortoise that we think may have any issue we keep them for awhile and make sure they are good to relocate. He ate good and really did not grow at all for the first six months. After that he started to show new growth and started to grow. He is now about five years old and has been with us for about three years now. He is doing very well, he has grown substantially over the past two years and is probably time to relocate. He is probably a male based on his personality and behavior, however we are unsure. Took a video of him today eating a few cactus pads, one of his favorite foods.
