The smaller tort is a year older than the bigger one. Is that normal for one to grow so much faster? They are in the same tort table and eat the same foods. They eat on opposite sides of the table and both get plenty of grasses and leafy greens. I don't understand.

Growth rates can vary wildly and are usually more pronounced in pairs. One member of the pair is more stressed than the other by their unpleasant housing situation and it can hamper growth.

Other factors are plain old appetite, and also how they were started for those first few weeks as hatchlings.

I'll bet if you separate them, the smaller one will start growing faster.

You don't say how long you've had the both of them, but just from looking at the picture I'm thinking the smaller one was started dry and the larger one had a more humid/moist environment in his first months. If this is the case, then it's yet another proof that starting them dry is not good for them. I'm going by large guy = smooth and small guy = pyramided.

I got the bigger one in Az. It still had a yoke sack. The smaller one I got in Ca at 6 months old. He was kept on rabbit food. So your comments make sense. The bigger one was way smaller at first but is now way bigger.
