Here are a few pictures of baby Gus. Ever since moving him to his new enclosure he has been eating very well and seems more lively and happy.

He looks great. So nice to see a smooth baby. How old is he? Is that alfalfa hay in the pic? Your substrate looks excellent too.

Gus is a great name for a Sulcata. :D

Where was he before you moved him to the new digs?

Thanks! It is alfalfa, but he doesn't seem to eat it. I am now seeing that he shouldn't have it, so I haven't replaced it.

He was given to us in a 10 gallon tank with dirt from someone's backyard. He loves to dig in this new substrate!

Couple more I took today. Had him walking on me or a little exercise and tried introducing him to his first taste of apple. Too occupied with exploring. He also seemed drawn to the computer. Maybe he recognized a relative? (Picture on desktop borrowed from the sulcata group on Facebook.)

Oh jeez, easy on the apple. Here's a great site with all sorts of useful info.
http://africantortoise.com/

Of course as I'm doing the link I noticed the pic on the main page is a Sulcata eating fruit...sigh...

This one is really good too. Check out the tab on pyramiding.

Some of the other members showed me these sites a few weeks ago and I visit them all the time now. Good stuff.

Yeah, I'm picture crazy at the moment. He's just so much fun. I gave him a nice meal of Spring Mix, one small strawberry chopped, some Zoo Med grass pelets, and calcium.
