heat lamp at night?

Would it be safe to keep the heat lamp OFF at night for a few days?

It's been in the high 90's (some days in the 100's) here in San Diego. Nights have been in the mid to upper 70's. I have a red lamp fixed into the dogloo for Ralph. It just seem silly to me to keep it on at night when it's that warm. I also cover the door with a towel (mostly so people walking by can't see the red light and to keep warmth in).

What do you think?

In a tortoise's real world, there is a natural drop in temperature when the sun goes down. If your house stays in the 70's during the night, its ok to turn off the heat source (in my opinion).

I agree with Yvonne! You also might think about investing in an electronic thermostat so you don't have to think about it. The bulb will only be on if the temp falls below your specified your setting. I use the one in the link below.
