Hey everyone! I am going to build my first enclosure soon and am wondering how high I should put my wall. I will be putting a Russian in most likely but possibly a Hermann or Greek. Thanks!
I just finished building a tort table for my 3 year old Yellowfoot tortoises, the largest of which is about the same size as a Russian. Now that I see it, and am thinking about the substrate, I realize that 12" walls might not be high enough. When I add the substrate, the walls will be about 8" high. I'm not sure that's high enough. You have to think about your tortoise standing on his back legs. Can he reach the top? If so, the walls are too short. Can he stand on his brother's back and reach the top? Too short!
