This is on my dogs growing. Very swollen looks like he is still intact. Lots of puss coming out. My dog definitely is bothered by it, he is just letting me put the compress on and he just lays down. My biggest concern is that it would be a black widow or brown recluse Bite. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have access to antibiotics as I run a dog rescue but with my rent due today it would be really tough for me to bring him to the vet today.

FYI antibiotics won't work on poison.

From the 'net about black widow bites on dogs:

Symptoms of a black widow spider bite on dogs include:

  • Numbness surrounding the bite site
  • Restlessness
  • Muscle pain
  • Muscle rigidity, particularly the abdominal muscles
  • Seizures
  • Increased heart rate
  • Labored breathing, usually rapid and shallow
  • Weakness of the limbs
  • Paralysis

Because she's a fuzzy dog, you may not have noticed a mammary tumor. Sometimes these mammary tumors burst, and it looks similar to what you're seeing. I think you should take the dog to the vet.

He is a boy ;)
He he just got nuetered last month so was at the vet then and he sleeps on his back a lot so I know this is new. I did think he looked sad yesterday. Sunday I know he was fine. We go over him all the time for tics. Maybe a tic head?

He can walk ok but looks miserable. Gave him some pain meds. Will be probably taking him in to the vet this afternoon. Hope my landlord doesn't mind late rent. :(
I am thinking snake bite.
In this new pic, what looks like a nipple, actually looks like a bite and next to that is a teeny tiny puncture.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1404241009.512995.jpg

After warm compresses that day, the redness and swelling went way down so I didn't do the vet and now it is almost gone! Yay!
