Hello Everyone
This would be my very first post here, I have a Sulcata but most important for me now is to identify correctly which species I have now so proper care can be given.

Previous owner wasn’t really sure and didn’t have the time anymore to take care of him so I decided to take over. Just get him less than 24hours ago.

My guess would be elongated tortoise but hope all the experts here can help.

I also read a lots about elongated tortoise and their care is similar as redfoot tortoise. Any other tips are deeply appreciated.

Carapace length is 9.2cm
Plastron length is 8.2cm
Weighing at 122grams

Thank you in advance.

Just looking at images, they do have a similar shell structure and colouration to an Elongated, so that would be my guess too. I have no experience with Elongateds though so my opinion is bleh.

That is one beautiful tortoise though. Their shell is beautiful. I especially love the upside down smiley face marking on the left side of their plastron. Would love to see more of this little guy in the future to see how they grow :)

Pictured: Upside down smiley face. A joy to look at.

Yeah for now I will treat him like a redfoot.
Ordered another closed chamber for him as I wouldn’t want to mix him with my sulcata.
Hopefully will grow well and healthy 😃

I didn’t notice the smiley face, you sure are looking it closely 😁

Expexting a different species?! How come? Elongated tortoises are very beautiful and amazing species once you get to know em'.
No, I meant before I met the previous owner, because when we got in touch he mentioned his tortoise was other species (the one I was looking for) but when we met turned out it was an elongated (basically a misunderstanding) And yes I’ve become more and more intrigued as I read more about them and definitely didn’t regret my decision 😊

Agree with assumptions already made: Elongated Tortoise.
