Help on my hermanns

Hello
I have now got two hermann tortoise. I am very confused on how there bed should look and what should be in there bed.
My gran past away i am to look after them i went to the pet shop to buy a proper water bowl for them i showed him my pic he then carried on to have ago at me for them been in sawdust which my gran was told to put them in so i brought the pallets he told me to
Ill put a pic below please help !!

First off, the two tortoises in the photo are Russian tortoises, Testudo horsfieldi, not Hermann's tortoises. The pellets are not a good idea as bedding for any species. Sawdust is also not a good idea, it is very dusty and depending upon what species of tree the it is from, can be potentially toxic. Depending upon what country you are located in will depend upon what suitable substrates you may have available. Here in the U.S. cypress mulch and aspen bedding are the overwhelming choices for indoor enclosures for most species. Organic soil by itself or mixed with coconut coir can be another option.

Incidently, you will find it less expensive to purchase supplies like light fixtures, bowls, substrate and other items from about anywhere but a pet shop!

I was told by my gran when she first had them they were hermann tortoise so i do apologise for the not the correct name for them 😊
I have only had them a week so this is why i came to the site for help.
It is very confusing cuz i been told so many different things.
I appreciate all the advice i can get i went pet shop so cud buy the dish i am in England.
I will get it right soon lol hopefully x

Yes, they are Russians with pyramiding. Looks like yours could use more moisture. I like to use coco coir with peat moss for mine. Go to russiantortoise.org for the best information on Russians. Good luck!

Hiya thank you. I have bathed them four times this week i have also brought the bigger bowl so they will go into that also. I will go to online shop to buy the stuff your advising
