Just wanted everyone's thoughts on her shell, it's improved greatly since we bought her. She is now on a correct diet of the correct grasses. How do you think her shell is? Please let me know.
I would up the daily warm soaps to a few times a day along with misting a few times a day. Soak for 20 mins and make sure the water is kept warm. also If you can provide a warm water dish in the enclosure most time they will self soak. I personally would pick up some terramycin ophthalmic ointment because his eyes seem a little dry and irritated, use that for a few day to a week and his eyes should look really alert and clear. But i would add a water dish if you dont have one because it just looks like he is really dehydrated.
Of course, a correct diet IS a necessary evil, however most of the pyramiding is caused by the baby being kept too dry during its first year of growth.
once again... isnt pyramiding cause by too small enclosure and bad diet? or is that just ANOTHER cause of pyramiding?
OK, I just read your link and I guess it is just another reason for pyramiding...
Cathie never paid attintion to humidity levels and raised 2 sulcatas from the day after hatching. They where kept as a Montessori Class mascots and where well cared for, for almost 4 years but heat and humidity where never a concern or even known to be an issue... Maybe she just got lucky, 'cause WalkingRock looks good 8 years later!
