I am NOT the proper resource here...but since no one else has answered you I will say that a watery eye that is shut may be an infection so take her to the vet!

It could also just be a substrate that is too dry, but you don't want to risk something bad happening to your little pet, so take her to the vet.

If you post some photos, and tell us how you keep your Star: substrate, lighting, diet, enclosure, as well as her age, how long you've had her, and where you got her, there are experienced keepers on this forum who can advise you.

Here's how to post photos: http://tortoiseforum.org/thread-5245.html

Is she making any noise when she pulls her head in quickly?

I agree with Stephanie that a trip to the vets is in order to have her looked over. Just make sure, if they need to give her antibiotics, that they don't give her Baytril. Star tortoises are allergic to it.

I won't even attempt a diagnosis, but whenever I've had that sort of problem with any species of tortoise, or other reptiles for that matter, raising the temps a bit usually helps. In fact, those kind of problems have been caused, for me, by temps dropping during winter. Where in the world are you Willy? If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, check the temps all over your enclosure to eliminate that as a cause. I have to agree with the other posters that a trip to the vet is certainly in order.

He's in Malaysia :) so I don't think it got to cool ;)

If the sound is a hissing sound like a snake would make, than that is perfectly normal. If the sound is like someone coughing when they have a cold, than it's time to get to the vets.

How do you have the Star set-up?
