Help with DIY Above-tank Basking Area

Hello! I am an owner of a 12 year old RES and I was wanting to rid myself of the floating basking dock I’ve been using for her for a decent bit now.
Certainly have been wanting to open up the amount of swimming room for the aquarium I have and saw a friend who had the egg crate diy setup and was curious to do the same.
There’s plenty of instructional videos on how to make one but I haven’t found one that secures the basking area to the tank besides letting it rest on the tank’s lip. My turtle’s zoomies makes her feel like climbing a lot and I worry the egg crate version can’t be secured the tank with much more than hopes and dreams.
Any help on fastening the dock to my aquarium would be much appreciated.

A picture of your set up would help us.
Also, how big is the tank and the turtle?
Most tanks aren't big enough for a full grown RES. At 12 years, it should be fairly big and would need at least a 100 gallon or a large pond would be best.
