Hello,

I hope this is the correct forum for this question, need to know the perfect temperature and humidity needed for good health?

We live close to the beach in Oceanside, Ca. This weekend I installed thermostats and humidity gauges,
The reading this morning was 60 degrees and 70% humidity @6:45 am.

I have my Tortoises in 2 converted rabbit hutches (one for males, the other for the females) at night that are 4-5 inches from the ground, the mesh was replaced with wood panels and the roof is the lid.

I am planning on purchasing some kind of heat lamps for the Hutches tonight.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

Bryan

Well, I will get someone here to help with temp and humidith. But what I can say is those enclosures are way too small.

The gauges you've provided in the picture are typically junk. Sorry. You can easily replace them with digital one that will give you an accurate reading. If you spend the extra couple of dollars you can even get wireless remotes so you can monitor the temp and humidity while you watch TV. Remember, the important thing with temperatures and humidity is that your gauge is at tortoise level, not up towards the top of the enclosure. Something like 4-6" from substrate level depending on the size of your tortoises. @Yvonne G will help you alot with questions you have.
