Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a light timer this weekend. I'm wondering which one to get.

I can get this reptile brand timer which cost 23,-

However, at the local home depot store I see timers for 5,- to 10,-. So much cheaper.

Is there something I have to considerate in getting a timer, like how mich watt it can handle or something?

I buy mine at the hardware store. I usually buy the "heavy duty" ones because they can handle more wattage, accept the three prong plugs instead of the two prong type, and most of them come with a receptacle on both sides.

I saw this timer that can handle wattage to 1800W, so I think I'm gonna get that one.

One question though: can a light timer also be combined with power strip? I have a power strip with 3 outlets that I use for the UVB lamp and heat lamp. If it is possible I want to set both lamps on a timer by connecting the power strip to the light timer.

Yes. I do this on almost every enclosure. I just make sure the combined wattage is well under the stated capacity for each element of the system, timer, strip, thermostat, dimmer, etc...
