Hey guys just a quick question. I have a hatchling that foamed at the mouth from being outside (for about 20 min) I immediately sprayed lightly with the hose. Then took inside and soaked with room temperature water for quite some time. I also witnessed it drink and walk out of the water by itself and went under the heat lamp. I guess he got stuck in the grass and couldn’t make it to the shade. So my question is how do you know when your tortoise “beat” overheating when is he in the “clear”.

England,
How old is the hatchling? And what breed of tort?
If I’m not mistaken the pros on here don’t recommend taking hatchlings outside. I’m sure a pro will be along to advise soon.

It’s a radiated and it was hatched June 5th. I’m now seeing it eat so I’m hoping this is a good sign. Also I watched it drink.

I’m just wondering if it has any long term effects or if he will be weak for a few days.
I've had it happen myself.
The effects usually don't last long.
Luckily he didn't die.
Indirect sunlight is best, if you'll be leaving a tortoise unattended outside. You probably shouldn't leave a 2 month old tortoise unattended.
And never keep tortoises in a glass aquarium in the sunlight.
(I know you did not do that)
