Hi there,

I looking for some help identify what species of Hermann that I have.

I believe rumble is Western Hermann and I'm thinking Juno is a Eastern Hermann.

I was also wondering if different species of Hermann can still breed?

Thanks for your help in advance.

There are a number of folks who can help you identify the particular subspecific status of your tortoises, but I'm pretty sure they'll need to see plastron shots as well as pictures of the rear portions of their carapaces in order to make the determination.

There is a posibility that Juno is a western but only a plastron photo will tell for sure. Rumble is not a western.

I believe that Juno is a male and Rumble is the girl. Could someone help ID if they are western or eastern.

Thank you for your help

Both are Testudo hermanni boettgeri, not Testudo hermanni hermanni. :)

Both animals are very colorful though, beautiful. Not sure on sex, both actually look as though they may be male, a closer tail shot will determine for sure and I'm sure Dan will know right away.

Hi all, just butting into this one for a minute. I thought Juno might have been a western but the plastron picture is making it very clear he is an eastern as the black bands are not at all continuous. His carapace colouring though really is a bit western looking.

Both look like beauties.
