Hi all

I am fairly new to this so please bare with me!

I have a (aprox) 1 year old Hermanns tortoise and am struggling with the enclosure.
I currently use a mix of Tortoise Life Substrate and Orchid Bark which it seems fine with…. Unless anyone else has any other recommendations. But I am struggling with the humidity levels in the vivarium. I currently have the warm end at 30 degrees and the cool end stays at around 20 degrees - this was recommended temperatures from who I got the tortoise from.
My humidity is currently sitting at 99% day and night and I have seen a lot of threads regarding this being too high! How can I get the humidity down and keep it at the ‘correct’ humidity?
Any other tips etc would be much appreciated - I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing.

Hi and welcome to the forums! Best way for the others to give you some pointers would be to provide pictures of the enclosure, so they can see how you have everything set up.

Your basking area needs to be 95-100F
The rest of the area 80F then drop off at night no lower then 60F.
I don't know what tortoise life substrate is.
If this is a closed chamber then the humidity you are reading may be right. If this is an open top table or enclosure then the humidity is likely wrong.
Post pictures of the enclosure and all equipment

It looks very dry in the enclosure.
What are the little white pebbles?
Is that dirt or sand?
You need to add more orchid bark and less of the dirt looking stuff.
What are you using to read temps and humidity?
