He is 2 years old and I have been feeding and bathing him every other day, but every time he eats he hides in his cave and I don't know if that is normal.

Hello!
You should feed him every day. And leave the food bowl, so he can take a bite whenever he wants.

Can you give some details about the enclosure (size, humidity and temperature, what lights do you use, what substrate), maybe post a photo or two.

Does he stay in the hide all the time or goes out sometimes?

Young tortoises prefer to stay out of sight, unless they have serious reasons to go out (no one likes being eaten). But hiding could be a signal, that something need to be tweaked in the enclosure.

I agree to feed every day.
And IF everything thing else is dialed in (humidity, temperature, lighting, uvb and feeding) then it is normal.
But it's a big IF. Since you've given us so little information to go on.
It could just as easily be because something has him distressed

Hi! Redfoots are such sweet and pretty fellows. How did you decide on one?

It was a love from the first sight :) And then I've found info on the Internet that they are easy species for beginners (and no, they are not, unless you live in Florida). And then I discovered the TFO, this probably saved my RF from the misery and decline.
