If you staple a shingle to the ramp, it will have excellent traction. Your habitat looks great.

Thank you both!

@ starjess81 - Thanks!! I'll get all of the specifics from my best friend. He's a carpenter and he built it in just a few hours! He's currently working on Sheldon's outdoor enclosure for when the warmer weather arrives again! I know that Sheldon will outgrow this table, but I like the table so much I plan on getting a Russian Horsefield - or some other kind that will be able to use it it's entire life once Sheldon cannot use it any longer. :)

@ yagyujubei - Thank you for the compliment, and also for the awesome tip! I plan on adding twigs - which I've gathered and treated, but haven't sawed in half yet - to cover the ramp, and to run the length of the top level like a little fence to cover the plain wood. He will use the ramp, but your idea is perfect for up until I can get those twigs in place! :)

Welcome. I've been on the forum for about a month and I learn something new everyday. Not to mention any question are answered with knowledge and love. Your little guy is very cute. I also love your table. I have a 6 yr old rescue so he pretty much went straight outside but my whole family has jihad a blast working on his habitat and shed. Good luck...

Thanks, mary t! You're SO right - this forum in absolutely invaluable to have, and for many reasons, too! You're so lucky to live in an area that allows for more outdoor tort time than we get in MO. ;) I'm really looking forward to the time when Sheldon is ready to be an outdoor tort. We're planning to convert most of our garage and he'll also have half of our backyard... he would have the entire backyard, but we've got 2 spoiled Boston Terriers who use the backyard for potty and playtime. We've got some big plans for when Sheldon is big enough - which doesn't seem to awful far away. :D

Thank you, knight_visionn! My little Sheldon was in an aquarium until his table was built. One of my best friends built it for him, and I kind of face/palmed for not having asked him sooner if he could build a table for my little tort. It only took my friend about an hour and a half to build! (If it were me, I think I would have been working on it for a week or so!) The enclosure still is not done - but are they ever really done? lol You should post pictures of your Sulcy's set up... I really love getting ideas from other forum members - and like them - I love pics! :D

Sheldon does have some pyramiding going on... but he came to me that way - I've made it my mission to do as best by him as I can. I sure try to do everything right. Thank gosh for forums like this!! ;)

The table looks good. Can I ask what bulbs you have in that dual setup, and how far it is from the substrate? Do you keep the lights on all day?

Sure thing - I've got a ceramic heat emitter, and MVB UVB bulbs... and the dual lamp hangs about 8 or 9 inches from the substrate. I turn the MVB off for 8 to 10 hours a night - but the ceramic heat emitter I leave on 24-7. Hope that makes sense - it's been a long day, and my brain feels sluggish.

(And thank you for the compliment!!)

Not a problem! I'm thinking my friend who built the table will be over tomorrow or in the next few days - I promise you I've not forgotten. :D
