I read that sulcatas can eat Hibiscus leaves and flowers. My question is I had a freind give me seeds from a Kenaf which is in the Hibiscus family. Does anyone know for sure if they can eat Kenaf? The info I have found on it says its toxic to humans but have not found anything about animals. Any info would be great. Thanks for your time.

Its not toxic, but its not very palatable. I doubt your tortoise would eat it.

Thanks for that info. I had not heard that it was not very tasty to the tortoise. Will not waste my time with it.

Hibiscus syriacus (Rose of Sharon) and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis are the two that I've used. Rose of Sharon seeds can be pretty easy to come by this time of the year if you know what the shrub looks like. Many people grow it in their yards as an ornamental.
