how long!!

How long should it take to get rid of a URTI in a 5" leopard tortoise? He is on clarithromycin every other day for a month. We started our 3rd week yesterday and he is still blowing bubbles. He is still eating so that is good. I asked the vet if we could get him in for a culture and he said I would have to stop the antibiotics for a week. Should I be worried? Because I am extremely worried!

RE: how long!!

Your question might be seen by someone helpful if you post in under Tortoise health. Just an idea.

RE: how long!!

Don't post again. You already have three posted. You can pm a mod an ask them to move it. If you don't get any help soon. Send emysemys a pm. She knows a lot about these things.

RE: how long!!

The time to start worrying is when he stops eating, or when/if the nasal discharge changes to colored and thick. As long as he's eating and acting otherwise normally, you're fine. Did you make his temperature in the habitat slightly warmer than normal? This helps to "sweat out" the bad bugs.
