I don't know the exact numbers but it's not all that great... it is high in water content and low in nutrients, o your tort fills up before he can intake enough nutrients. That being said, some misinformed keepers feed only romaine and their tort survives, but it is not the ideal food nor is it a good idea to feed them it. Its fine if a little is mixed in with weeds and things but not on its own.

Its not great. Mostly water, not enough fiber or nutrients. Once a week won't hurt anything, but your tortoise could be eating something better instead. You can use the fondness for romaine to introduce new and better foods. Chop it all up super fine and just mix in a little of the new stuff at first.

In replacement of romaine would red leaf lettuce be better? I've read this is the better of the lettuces to use.

Here you can compare for yourself. Looks like the greens are really beating up on any lettuce in those comparisons. You can pick and choose what you wish. But grasses, cactus, and plantain, hibiscus, endive, wild weeds, grape leaves, blah blah blah are going to be a good choice. The more the merrier.

Select 100g in the drop-down menu for serving size for both in two separate browser windows and snap a window to one side and one to the other in order to view them simultaneously.

Not so radically different.

There are no issues feeding it as long as it is not all one feeds.

A lot of supposed good versus bad claims are highly exaggerated.

The site Kelly linked to is even easier to view the same sort of information in.

Thank u this is also what I have seen in my research is that romaine is actually just as nutritious as most grass weeds and other greens.

Romaine lacks in fiber wich is bad but it does look like its a good vitamin source

I only feed romaine as a treat anyways
