I recently purchased a green house enclosure for my baby Sulcata tortoise. However, after conducting further research, I learned that maintaining proper humidity levels is crucial for preventing pyramiding. Is this enclosure suitable for meeting those requirements, and what steps can I take to improve it if needed? The bottom is not closed i am trying to figure out a way to fully close it.IMG_2614.jpeg

@Maggie3fan has used pool noodles to seal the space in between the bottom of the greenhouse and the tortoise table. Maybe that will work here?

My set up is kinda funky...it's a 6'x3' wooden tort table, on a 1940's era coffee table and the greenhouse plastic covers all, but the humidity runs down the plastic and drips on the (ugh)rug. That pink is a noodle...and it works!DSCN2331.JPG
you can see the stain on the rug...I think the plastic should be stapled to the inside of the tort table...then the drips would be inside...just a late thought...

i was also thinking about that but the zipper part how would i cut that :(
Well...I would cut up alongside the zippers and take that piece, fold it underneath the table and staple it. do that on front and back, then tape the zippers up outta the way...might that work?I think you'd do better with a large bin or aquarium...

Keeping the humidity at least to 80% is important.

To be a tortoise keeper you have to adapt things and be creative with your enclosures to get them "right".

Ah great suggestions already! I can definitely see where your problem was coming from, the condensate is likely dripping straight down the sides which is causing all the moisture to escape, hopefully the above suggestions will help! If you want to have a look at any further closed chamber options, hopefully this thread will come in useful come upgrade time!

Something like this might even work better if you can’t get a tight enough seal with the greenhouse, I’d actually suggest opening things up more in general and having some ambient lighting in the middle so the entire set up is better lit in the day, you can still provide hidey areas😊
