I have been reading about humidity for a leopard tort and I am not sure what it should be. Is 50% humidity okay for her or does she need more? Please Help! She seems to like it under her plant. It is a closed habitat so it is easier to maintain the humidity but not sure what it should be at. Thanks.

This is highly debatable and there are many strategies that can lead to whatever your idea of success is.

I keep my baby leopards at 80 degrees F and 80% humidity as an ambient 24/7. Then they have a 100 degree basking spot on a slate for 12 hours a day. They also have a humid hide or two inside their indoor enclosure, where humidity is always near 100%. Then they go outside and get sun, exercise and grazing in a large pen for a couple hours a day, followed by a soak and a return to their inside enclosures. As they get larger, I leave them out all day weather permitting. Once they are around 8-10" they move outside full time with a heated box for night time and cool days.

More info about it in my signature.

It looks by the pics that some pyramiding may have already started. Follow Toms suggestions and you will be able to get the new growth to come in smooth. In time, the hope is that the pyramiding will not be so noticeable. I had the same with my Leo. Followed Toms threads and all new grow is growing in much smoother.

I have no experiences with leopards, but from what I read 40% is too low. I would suggest talking to Neal.

Yes, I agree about the pyramiding. I have had her for only a week; I don’t think she was getting the proper care before. I will make her home more humid. Thanks.

Here is pics of her parents
