I'm sure it happens. I think it would be a good idea if both parties get some benefit from it.

For me, the only way it would work is if it was an actual swap and not a breeder loan. It takes a lot of trust on both sides that the other person would take care of the loaner as well as you would. Not to mention the time it would take. Some breeding pairs take a long time to be successful, while others hit it off right away. So I think the easier way is to just trade breeding animals permanently.
